Absolutely brilliant weather as we set off from the car park turning left onto the old railway track towards Marlborough.
Amongst the avenue of trees, after walking about a mile we turned left and crossed over Marlborough Road to pick up the lane to Thomas’s farm.
He has an airfield here for light planes and we saw a microlite coming in to land and several glider transport boxes with beautiful flowering trees in the garden.
Then it was the hill. After reaching the top – panoramic views back towards Swindon and back towards Wroughton walking along the top. We then started the descent across the fields to find the ridgeway and back to the Three Trees caff.
A brilliant day and a glorious hash. My thanks to Des for marking the Trail – it was lovely.

What utterly glorious weather for a very scenic, long-anticipated hash. It was meticulously laid with such care, pride and precision, that you never had to worry that you may have gone “off piste”, leaving the walker free to enjoy the stunning views, and bracing air. We’d been warned about the hill (when we were up we were up, and when we were down we were down), but never imagined that when we were only half-way down we’d see: mountain bikers and micro-lights, gliders and goats, flocks of sheep and herds of cows, multi-coloured horses of all sizes, and ramblers galore. Thank you SO much Des for a cheery, feel-good wonderful day out…. at long last!
