We all know the perils of waiting too long to write the mag, memories fade etc etc. However I can’t really use that excuse because as usual as I was at the back and gossiping. And I also had the added pleasure and distraction of my son Tom and daughter-in-law Jess joining us. Some of you from the early days may remember Tom used to Hash with us as a little boy. He was soon back in the swing of it, shouting ON ON, not much help at the back but he was happy.
We also welcomed Henry back after his recent bout of ill health … don’t do it again Henry!

We could not have had a more beautiful day for a spring Hash and the countryside was absolutely stunning. Views towards the The Vale of The White Horse were perfect. I love spring and the first flowers – aren’t we lucky to have such variety on our doorstep.

The Hash trail for the walkers took in many a des-res in the pretty villages. Oh Kathy, it was a perfect garden and house viewing Hash … get well soon, and Ainslie and Simon who are also stricken. Everything was picture postcard perfect, no hazards, ne’er a stile or cow to torment us. The runners trail was more adventurous I’m told and it seemed everyone was on their best behaviour. I picked Jeremy’s brain for tips and the only misdemeanour he’d noted was that Brian and John cheated at three gates and walked round them instead of through them, can you believe that? Viv and Jeremy did it properly.

The runners and walkers on the long trail had the chance to see a delightful ancient church in tiny Baulking – it has an interesting history of being a market town so obviously of great importance at one time. Something I’ll go back and see methinks.

It was hard to believe it was only March as we sat in the garden, enjoying the warm sunshine, chips and gossip. We congratulated Keith on a wonderful trail, well marked and probably one of the most picturesque we’ve done.

Talking of pictures, (see what I did there?) here comes an advertisement. Mike and I are now in our new house, complete with some interesting art work. It’s been our intention to have a combined house warming and art sale, proceeds to raise funds for treatment for a dear friend’s grandson with a hideous type of cancer. Sadly, not all the treatment he needs is available on the NHS so his family have set up a crowdfunding campaign. We’ve decided to have the housewarming separately in the warmer weather and in the meantime if anyone would like photos of what we have or come round and see what we have and don’t mind our chaos, you’re very welcome to text me on 07710 434683 or email on 53silverfish@gmail.com to arrange. It’s modern, abstract stuff and on a pay what you like basis, even a fiver helps.
